I carefully approached this bull elk while it was laying down in a bog. I had my 500 mm lens and tripod, hoping to get close enough for a single good shot. Instead, he acted as though he just didn’t see me, so after a few shots, I went back to my truck and traded my 500 mm lens for my 24-105 lens. When I got back to him, he was taking a nap, so I took a nap also until he got up, stretched a bit, ate some delicious grass and surveyed his amazing mountain territory.
