This beautiful Fall day during the rutting season for moose could have been my last. I was looking for bull moose to photograph, fully aware that they can get cantankerous this time of year. I stopped by a stream that went from the open spaces where moose love to hang out and eat, into the thick forest. Soon I came upon this bull moose.

First some background of me and moose. When I was young, I encountered many moose and knew that they could attack, so I always thought if one ever did that, I would get to a tree and face the moose and go back and forth, hoping that the moose could not move laterally as fast as I could, thus keeping those pointy sword like antlers from impaling me.

Well, good news, it works. Even with me trying to calm the moose by talking to him, he immediately attacked me, and I ran as fast as I could to the nearest tree and went back and forth as the moose tried to do the same but could not do so.
And being the crazy but talented photographer that I am, I took pictures of him as he was attacking me, and this is the best one. Whew!
