Getting up very early and arriving before sunrise is key to getting great wildlife photos. I thank my Mother for teaching me that. She still gets up early every day. On this morning, I arrived just before sunrise and was fortunate enough to spy the elk herd fairly close to the road. After getting some shots of some smaller bulls, this big guy with one of his ladies appeared on the horizon just as the sun was coming up, creating this stunning silhouette.
