I have been observing Killdeer since I was very young in Idaho. I remember the first time I saw a Killdeer act like its wing was broken so that I would go toward it instead of toward its nest. This one was doing that, hoping that I would just go away. Instead, I kept practicing on the swallows and when the Killdeer would come by, they were easy in comparison, so I got this amazing shot.
