Great Blue Herons have always intrigued me since I was young, living on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River in Idaho. I tried for years to get close to one, but they have such good senses and eyesight that I could not. This one was in the Shiawassa Wildlife refuge near Saginaw, Michigan. I like this shot because it shows the size and majesty of the “Great” Blue Heron. So many times, when I now try to sneak up on a Great Blue Heron it will squawk its disdain for me trying to get close and will seemingly tell me off as it takes to the skies, but I don’t take it personally.
