Golden Eagle Being Attacked by a Western Kingbird
Western Kingbird & Golden Eagle Tyrannus verticalis & Aquila chrysaetos
I was early for my appointment as usual on this amazing day in Utah County near Payson, so I decided to drive around and see what I could see. Soon I saw this Golden Eagle perched near the road, so I turned around and got some shots as it flew to a nearby tree. I parked and walked toward the tree where there was quite a ruckus going on because he had chosen a tree that had a King Bird nest in it and the residents were none too happy about their visitor. I think they were glad when I got close enough to scare the Eagle off, but they certainly did not spare it their wrath, because they can fly and maneuver so much faster, they were attacking his head and actually hitting this poor eagle with their claws. I doubt that Eagle made the same mistake again!
