Most people are not aware that the Salt Lake Valley has a healthy population of California Quail that live mostly near the Jordan River. They run and fly quickly and it is difficult to catch them in a photograph. But I must have been doing something right on this morning when this one flew up into this tree and gave me an ample three seconds to get this shot before it flew down to the river.
