A series of very fortunate events helped make this one of a kind picture happen! First I finished my work early. Second, the sun was still shining and promised to do so through sunset, which is not normal in Washington state in the winter. Third, I switched my GPS to Lake Wilderness on a whim.
When I got there, I went out on the dock and took pictures of ducks. A lady came up to me and asked if I noticed the Bald Eagle high above us about 150 feet up a pine tree–I noticed! She said that sometimes the Eagle swoops down. I told her maybe I could get a shot of it catching a fish jokingly.
Then I went to the end of the Lake Wilderness where the sun was going to be on the longest and took more pictures of ducks–after about a half hour the sun was almost gone, and that was when the Bald Eagle showed up and circled right in front of me–then it dove! And it went almost all the way under the water, but I could tell that it missed. So I held tight for 5 more minutes when it came circling again and as it dove I took a series of pictures that included this one–It caught the fish and I caught the picture of it catching the fish! Wow!
