Bald Eagle Blue Flight

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

I did not dream that I would be so fortunate the morning I got this shot–but the moon and stars aligned. I got to the edge of the Fox River at Thousand Islands before sunrise, donned my waders and headed across the river to a small island about 10 feet by 20 feet with the perfect cover of cattails. There was even a washed up log in the middle for me to sit on.

While keeping my head on a swivel, I looked at the trees to the left of me and out it flew right over me. Then it did a 360 degree turn above me and went back. I got a series of spot on pictures of the United States bird, the bald eagle.
