These two magpies are not a couple, they are siblings. I know because I have watched magpies carefully since my childhood in Idaho. Adult magpies would not have stuck around unless they had a nest with eggs or babies. These two had no nest but were not interested in flying away from me, so I was able to get this fun picture!
