Sometimes we humans make good choices. This was one of those times. I finished one loop around the auto tour route in the Bear River Bird Refuge near Brigham City, Utah and I looked at my watch and saw that I had time for one more loop around, or be early for my appointment. I chose one more time, and it paid off. I passed them up completely, then I looked back because I heard the familiar sound of a Sand Hill Crane, and saw one near the road, so I backed up and saw a Mom and Dad Sand Hill Crane with two babies. What a pleasant surprise! They wasted no time in getting away from me, but not before I got several shots, including this one.
